INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana University Kelley School of Business Indianapolis welcomes seven new full-time faculty members this fall.
“Our new faculty bring research and teaching expertise that further the school’s global scholarship and teaching reputation,” said Julie Manning Magid, vice dean of Kelley Indianapolis and professor of business law. “They build on our mission to engage students in participatory learning and, through collaboration with industry experts, impact organizations around the world. Their excellence ensures Kelley Indianapolis will continue to be recognized as a top urban business school providing quality graduate and undergraduate student experiences.”
Larissa Adamiec joins the faculty as a visiting clinical assistant professor of finance. Her primary areas of research include risk management, model development, fund management and derivatives. She has authored 10 peer-reviewed publications, made more than 20 presentations and written a data science textbook titled, Excel, Access & Power BI for Mere Mortals. With more than a decade of analytics industry experience, Adamiec has led various projects with IBM, Looker, Northwest Mutual and the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank. Additionally, she established a non-profit alumni investment foundation in 2005 and has directed management since its inception. She holds a PhD in management science and a master’s in financial markets and financial engineering, both from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and a bachelor’s in finance from the University of Pittsburgh. She is teaching I-Core classes for Kelley Indianapolis.
Erin Coffman is a clinical assistant professor of data analytics. Before coming to academia full-time, Coffman served as a data scientist at Airbnb in San Francisco, where she co-founded Data University, a company-wide educational program to democratize data for more than 8,000 Airbnb employees. She holds a PhD and master’s in economics from Georgia State University, and she received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics education and economics from Anderson University. Coffman has experience as an instructor and research assistant while pursuing her degrees. For Kelley Indianapolis, she is teaching BUS-K 303: Business Analytics and Data Visualization.
Jake Gale joins the faculty as an assistant professor of management, and his primary areas of research include rudeness, social dilemmas and perspective-taking. Gale completed his PhD in organizational behavior and human resource management at the University of Florida, where his dissertation topic was: “Rudeness Causing Selfish Behavior in Social Dilemmas –The Role of Threat Response and How to Prevent it.” Gale is a Kelley Indianapolis alumnus, graduating with a bachelor’s in human resource management. He has worked closely with several Kelley faculty to publish research on the use of online panel data in management research. This research earned him the Robert McDonald Advancement of Organizational Research Methodology Award. He taught courses in organizational behavior while in Florida and will continue to teach the same course for Kelley Indianapolis.
Mark Mayer returns to Kelley Indianapolis as a clinical associate professor of marketing. His primary areas of research include advertising efficacy and health-related advertising. He rejoins the Kelley faculty after most recently serving as an assistant professor at the Ball State University Miller College of Business for five years. Before he pursued an academic career, Mayer was a brand manager at Kraft Foods and Wyeth Healthcare, managing brands such as Planters Nuts and Advil pain reliever. After earning his PhD, he continued to research advertising from the corporate perspective, investigating why certain types of messages appeal to their customers, including his most recent research published this year titled “Applying Media-Rich Concepts for the Optimization of Industrial Negotiations.” Mayer has a PhD in business administration from the University of Georgia, an MBA from Wake Forest University and a bachelor’s of science in management from the State University of New York. Mayer is currently completing courses from the Digital Marketing Institute and American Marketing Association for a dual certification. He is teaching courses in the Evening MBA Program and I-Core classes in the Undergraduate Program.
Sarah Noor is an assistant professor of accounting. Her primary areas of research include financial accounting and reporting, disclosure, ESG, technology and innovation. Noor completed her PhD in accounting from the Texas A&M University Mays Business School and holds a bachelor’s in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business. Her dissertation topic was: “The robots are coming: An examination of firm automation and non-GAAP earnings attributes.” She has experience teaching financial accounting and accounting information systems courses. Noor also volunteers in various mentorship roles to aid students in college and career planning. For Kelley Indianapolis, she is teaching BUS-A 311: Intermediate Accounting.
Alex Park joins the faculty as an assistant professor of marketing. His primary areas of research include judgment and decision making. He holds a PhD in marketing from the Washington University Olin Business School in St. Louis and a bachelor’s of science in psychology from the University of California, Davis. He was an AMA Sheth Doctoral Consortium Fellow and a recipient of the Moog Scholarship, which recognizes Olin doctoral students who display exceptional advancement in their studies. He is teaching BUS-M 300: Introduction to Marketing for Kelley Indianapolis.
Emily Poulton is an assistant professor of management, and her primary areas of research include employee/co-worker relationships and workplace interactions. As the Knox Doctoral Scholar and a fellowship recipient at the University of Georgia, she was an instructor and published two papers in the Journal of Applied Psychology. She also has experience working in admissions and research analysis for the Queens University of Charlotte. She holds a PhD from the University of Georgia Terry College of Business and an MBA and a bachelor’s in political science, both from the Queens University. For Kelley Indianapolis, Poulton is teaching Introduction to Human Resources and Organizational Behavior.
