There are a whole lot of new things happening at Kelley Indianapolis Career Services. First and foremost, there’s our name. For years, the office has been known as the Career Planning Office, and we were tucked away up on the fourth floor. However, with our move to BS2010 (the second floor of the Business/SPEA building), we now share space with Kelley Undergraduate Programs. With the new space came a new name to reflect this more integrative space and approach, Kelley Indianapolis Career Services or KICS for short.
In addition to the name and location change, we’re excited to announce a new campaign we’re calling #KelleyHired. Simply put, it’s an initiative to reach out to students in the Kelley School and encourage them to report their new positions.
First off, we’re working to make it easier for you to report your position. Our Internship Survey is of course still up and available on our website under the “Report Your Hire” tab and that’s still the best way to let us know about your career success. However, we’ve also got quick forms you can fill out in our office, and true to our campaign’s hashtag-inspired name, you’ll be able to tweet your new positions at us via our
@KelleyCareers handle.
It’s important to remember, too, that as far as “internships” go, we’re interested in hearing about a broader array of employment opportunities that you’ve found beyond what you might traditionally consider an internship. Essentially, we’re excited to know if you’ve found work — full-time or part-time — in your field of study.
Of course, #KelleyHired doesn’t begin and end with a few new surveys. We’re also looking to clothe and feed you. Not only will we have t-shirts for anyone who reports a new position, but we’re also planning a series of snack-based events here in our office specifically geared toward learning about your new career opportunities:
- October 15, 10:30 a.m. – noon: Popcorn and root beer;
- November 13, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: Pretzels, chips, and trail mix;
- February 18, 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.: Hot cocoa;
- March 25, 11 a.m. – noon: Popcorn;
- April 22, 2 p.m. – 3 p.m.: Pizza party!
If the t-shirt and the food aren’t inducement enough, keep in mind that these surveys aren’t just for our benefit. They also help you and your fellow students. You see, when we’ve got better and more accurate hiring and salary data on our students, it shows off how great our students really are, and it increases our reach with employers.
With more employers taking interest in our students, we’ll have more data to show, which will lead to even more interested employers and even more great opportunities. It’s a constantly upward-moving cycle of helping yourself and fellow students, and the #KelleyHired campaign is basically here to help make it even sweeter with free t-shirts and snacks.
It’s a win-win!
