The Student Government at the Kelley School of Business Indianapolis is a key part of getting business students involved in events at IUPUI. Throughout the semester we organize and sponsor activities to increase student engagement and enthusiasm, such as selling Kelley apparel and providing food and drink for special occasions.
Along with selling apparel, we sell discounted tickets for the Indy Fuel, Indianapolis Indians, and Christmas at the Zoo. Student Government at KSBI is also responsible for overseeing Kelley student organizations and providing reimbursements and support for their events. The support of Student Government allows clubs and organizations to provide more opportunities for student engagement and growth. This year, Student Government has decided to form a team for Jagathon, IUPUI’s Dance Marathon, and show support for campus involvement and the event as they try to raise $100,000 for kids at Riley Hospital for Children.
We also promote Kelley Indianapolis Career Services events and let business students know about the assistance they provide. Furthermore, the Student Government at KSBI assists students in building their network and preparing them for any future endeavor they aspire to achieve.
We are an assembly of Kelley students who vocalize the desires of our fellow peers. We have delegates from every class who voice their opinion for the best interest of the student body. These representatives include freshman David Gamble, sophomores Shelby Caulk and Joseph Vaughn, juniors Evan Davies and Joshua Graham, seniors Gabe Carvajal and Claudia Trincado, and graduate student Zhenni Lou.
Other officials for the Kelley School of Business Indianapolis Student Government hold significant roles in organizing tasks and running the organization. These officials include:
- Zach Treon, president
- David Wheeler, vice president
- Lindsey Gray, secretary
- Elizabeth Ziegler, treasurer
- Matthew Lowery, senator
- Gehrig Brown, website coordinator
- Anna Bruick, communications director
- Nick Thompson, marketing chair
We also have representation from every Kelley student-run club in order to ensure that their organization has a voice in the Student Government. Club representatives include:
- Michael Bever, Capital Investment Club
- Lexxa Ferrer-Giron, Society for Human Resource Management
- Chad Jenkins, Kelley Indianapolis Cares
- Alexus Laird, Delta Sigma Pi – Kappa Sigma
- Gabriel Lindman, Marketing Club
- Dana Mason, Operations and Supply Chain Management
- Andrea McConnaughey, Accounting Association
- Tasneem Sharmeen, Women in Business
- Adam Thrapp, Real Estate
Last but not least, we also have two Student Government at KSBI advisors, Colleen Rusnak and Jen Ayers, who offer assistance in all our operations and decision making.
Our broad commitment to Kelley and IUPUI allows us to be more understanding of what the student body wants to see from Student Government.
“Since I started here at Kelley Indianapolis, the entire program — faculty, advisors, staff, etc. — has invested so much into me,” said Ziegler. “Joining KSBISG is a way for me to give back to Kelley.”
Whether you want to join an organization that relates to your school, major, or personal interests, getting involved on campus helps you grow personally and professionally.
“School involvement looks great on a resume and helps to improve communication and leadership skills,” said Graham.
Added Thompson, “Get involved if you want to see changes in or around school.”
