INDIANAPOLIS – The Kelley School of Business Indianapolis welcomes seven full-time faculty members.
“We’re excited to add such an exceptional group of scholars to our Kelley faculty, each bringing a unique blend of academic rigor and real-world experience,” said Julie Manning Magid, vice dean of Kelley Indianapolis and professor of business law. “These new faculty members are not only leaders in their fields but also passionate educators who will challenge our students to think critically and creatively. We look forward to the many contributions they will make in shaping the future of business education at Kelley Indianapolis.”
May Xiaoyan Bao joins the faculty as a visiting associate professor of accounting. Her research focuses on fair value accounting, financial reporting quality, executive compensation, corporate governance, and capital markets. Her work has been published in scholarly journals in the areas of financial accounting and taxation, including Contemporary Accounting Research and the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy. Before joining Kelley Indianapolis, May was an associate professor of accounting and interim director of the School of Accountancy at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA), May has held finance and accounting roles in banking, commercial real estate, insurance, and investments. She earned her PhD in accounting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2013. May is teaching Introduction to Financial Accounting and Introduction to Taxation in the Undergraduate Program.
Kelly Brummett is a visiting clinical assistant professor of business law and ethics. Her research interests are athlete branding, specifically college student-athlete name, image, and likeness, and the intersection of law, media, and social justice. Before pursuing her PhD, Kelly spent 15 years working in intercollegiate athletics, most recently as the director of candidate development at Major, Lindsey & Africa, where she developed recruiting strategies to identify qualified candidates, evaluated candidates’ strengths compared with clients’ requirements, and drafted candidate summaries. She also served as the assistant director of academic and membership affairs at the National Collegiate Athletics Association. She is teaching in the Undergraduate Program, including Commercial Law I (Honors) and the Ethical Responsibilities of Business. Kelly holds a JD from the Indiana University McKinney School of Law and an MBA and bachelor’s in business economics and management from the University of South Florida.
Peter Frankos has joined the full-time faculty after serving as a visiting lecturer of accounting for the past two years. Over the last few years, he has worked extensively with our students while integrating relevant technologies such as QuickBooks into the curriculum, and has been active in promoting the accounting programs. He is a two-time graduate of the Kelley School, earning his undergrad from Kelley Bloomington and his Masters in Accounting from Kelley Indianapolis last year. Peter will continue to teach in the undergraduate program leading the following courses: Introduction to Financial Accounting (A201), the Computer in Business (K201), Federal Income Taxes (A328/A515). As a CPA, he has spent roughly 10 years working at leading firms including Ernst and Young and RSM US LLP.
David Hunsaker is a clinical associate professor of management. For the past six years, he was an assistant professor of management and organizations at New York University Shanghai, which is China’s first Sino-U.S. research university. He is an expert in negotiation and conducts research in the areas of conflict management, anger, team dynamics, and culture. He has lived in four countries (most recently, the People’s Republic of China) and is fluent in Chinese with elementary proficiency in German, Malay, and Hokkien. He will teach Power, Persuasion, Influence, and Negotiation in the Evening MBA Program and Organizations and Organizational Design in the Undergraduate Program. David earned his PhD in organizational behavior from the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business, and he holds a master of public administration and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Brigham Young University.
Mateus do Rego Ferreira Lima joins the faculty as assistant professor of operations and supply chain management. He specializes in technology management, maintenance operations, and manufacturing processes, with a focus on how technologies can enhance decision-making and operational efficiency. He earned his PhD in operations management from The Ohio State University, where he received multiple awards for research and teaching excellence. His work has been published in leading journals, and he is actively involved in academic service as a reviewer and conference session chair. He is teaching in the Undergraduate Program, including Introduction to Operations Management, Sustainable Operations, and sections of I-Core. Mateus holds a master’s in industrial engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil and bachelor’s degrees in industrial engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and the State University of Maranhão in Brazil.
Linda Todd joins Kelley Indianapolis as a visiting clinical assistant professor of business law and ethics. She joined the IU Indianapolis community last year as the Associate Director of the Office of Academic and Bar Success and a lecturer teaching professional responsibility and bar exam success, and strategies at the IU McKinney School of Law. Before joining academia, Linda practiced law for at Barnes & Thornburg LLP, Anthem Insurance Company (Wellpoint), and American Family Mutual Insurance Company. She started her law career as a Marion County prosecutor and later served as chief counsel for the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission, where she prosecuted lawyers and judges for violations of the Rules of Professional Conduct and Judicial Canons. She is teaching four sections of L-203 Business Law, in the Undergraduate Program. Linda holds a JD from the IU Maurer School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan.
Luiz Ricardo Kabbach De Castro will join Kelley Indianapolis this spring as a clinical associate professor of management. Prior to joining Kelley, he served as an associate professor of strategy and entrepreneurship at the University of Navarra. Luiz Ricardo’s research revolves around the intersection of corporate governance mechanisms, their functions, and how they influence the strategies and outcomes of businesses. Luiz Ricardo’s interest extends to various aspects of corporate ownership structure and board dynamics, exploring their impact on strategic decisions concerning innovation, corporate finance, sustainable practices, and entrepreneurship. Before his appointment at the University of Navarra, Luiz Ricardo held academic positions at the Warrington College of Business at the University of Florida, the University of São Paulo, and Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in Chile. In addition to his academic career, Luiz Ricardo’s consulting experience has exposed him to a broad spectrum of industries and regions, further enhancing his understanding of strategic decision-making and corporate finances in various contexts. Educated in Spain and Brazil, Luiz Ricardo holds a PhD in business economics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, an MBA in finance from Insper, Brazil, a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in industrial engineering from the University of São Paulo, and a bachelor’s in law from FADISC, Brazil.
