Hermann Ndofor, assistant professor of management, was named a 2021 Templeton Fellow in the Africa program for the Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI).
Templeton Fellows work across FPRI’s research programs on a number of projects every year. In this role, Ndofor says he’ll primarily have an initial emphasis on China/Africa relationship, with particular emphasis on Chinese investments in Africa.
“One of the things I’ve been looking forward to, career-wise, is to translate research into policy. What I’m doing can impact the real world, and this fellowship allows me to take my research beyond research to think about the policy implications it could have,” said Ndofor.
The Foreign Policy Research Institute produces scholarship and nonpartisan policy analysis focused on foreign policy and national security challenges facing the United States.
“This is also a stepping stone to further research,” added Ndofor. “I’ve had a focus on Africa since I got to IU, and this will allow me to further build my research reach and access within the African continent.”
Ndofor’s research interests include competitive dynamics, resource management, top management teams and entrepreneurship, with a specific interest in Africa. His research has been published in a number of journals including the Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Business Ethics Quarterly, Journal of Managerial Issues, Journal of Management Inquiry, Long Range Planning and Leadership Quarterly.
He is the associate editor for the Africa Journal of Management, and he also currently serves on the editorial review boards of Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management and Management and Organization Review.
Before joining the Kelley School of Business in 2015, he was on the faculty at the Mays Business School at Texas A&M. Ndofor received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, his MBA from the University of Maryland, and his PhD in management from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2004.
