Congratulations to the team of undergraduate students from Kelley Indianapolis, who took second place at this year’s Krannert School of Management HR Case Competition.
The team of five students: Kayla Taff, Jaci Zook, Ryan Fraser, Abigail Smith and Jayce Everling competed against teams from both the U.S. and Mexico.
Students received the case — showcasing a particular HR scenario — a week ahead of time, and they were able to read, research and find a solution to the scenario (this one, involving generational differences in the workplace) before presenting their solution to a number of judges.
“I was delighted the students placed,” said Elizabeth Malatestinic, senior lecturer in human resource management and faculty advisor for the students. “I am proud of the work they put into the case and how well they represented IUPUI.”
Malatestinic said she’d received compliments from the judges on the students’ work, saying they were confident, well-prepared, included good detail in their presentation and they addressed the case well.
“The experience was a really positive one,” said Jayce Everling, BS’20. “I would tell other students that if they have the time (it is a time investment), to seriously consider doing a case competition like this one. It’s an excellent experience, you meet some really great people and you’re able to test out your public speaking skills, as well as your research skills.”
This was the first time a team from Kelley Indianapolis has placed at this particular case competition.
