A number of Kelley School faculty and staff members at IUPUI received campus-wide, Kelley School and other awards and recognitions this spring semester.
Randy Heron, professor of finance, and Judy Wright, clinical assistant professor of business law, received the Trustees’ Teaching Award. The award is given to faculty at IUPUI who have a positive impact on learning for their students and demonstrate teaching excellence.
Diane Sturek, lecturer in accounting, received the Graduate Accounting Teaching Excellence Award, which is presented to the top faculty member in the Graduate Accounting Programs.
Greg Durham, clinical associate professor of finance, received the Lilly Alumni MBA Teaching Excellence Award, the highest faculty award given each year to a professor in the Evening MBA Program.
Five professors received an Evening MBA Teaching Excellence Award this year:

Six faculty members received the Schuyler F. Otteson Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award. This award is p resented by the Kelley School of Business at IUPUI Student Government each year to both full-time and part-time faculty members teaching in the undergraduate program. The faculty members are nominated by students and chosen by student government.

Michael Steinhardt, lecturer in finance, received the Outstanding New Advisor of the Year award at the IUPUI Student Organization Awards Ceremony on April 22.
Demetra Andrews, clinical associate professor of marketing, received the Tonja Eagan Service Award from IUPUI’s Division of Undergraduate Education for her efforts with the Introduction to Business Administration students.
Judith Wright, clinical assistant professor of business law, received a research grant from the IU Mosaic Initiative. This fall, she will conduct research in her classrooms on active learning pedagogy.
Charlotte Westerhaus-Renfrow, clinical assistant professor of business law and management, and Kim Saxton, clinical professor of marketing, received the 2019 Charles R. Bantz Chancellor’s Community Scholar Award. This will fund their project “Advancing Indy Women: A Year-Long Journey of Professional Development Project.” More details can be found in the story here.
Charlotte Westerhaus-Renfrow, Tammy Martin, director of finance and administration, and student Allex Brown received 2019 Women’s Leadership Awards from IUPUI.
Charlotte Westerhaus-Renfrow is representing Kelley as one of 25 Bicentennial Professors . IU’s Bicentennial Professorships program is part of the university’s continued commitment to public outreach and community engagement. Each Bicentennial Professor is traveling around the state this year delivering public presentations at community forums.
Amrou Awaysheh was recognized as one of the 2019 Indianapolis Business Journal Forty Under 40, as well as one of the Poets & Quants 2019 Best 40 Under 40 professors.
Congratulations also to Sam Tiras, who received tenure and was promoted to associate professor of accounting. More to come on this!
Angela Andrews, clinical assistant professor of accounting, is part of the inaugural cohort of Digital Faculty Fellows at IUPUI. Digital Fellows formed a community of practice to investigate, evaluate and implement digital courseware (instructional content designed to support delivery of face-to-face or online courses through software built specifically for educational purposes) and/or adaptive learning tools appropriate for a gateway face-to-face undergraduate course.
Lin Zheng, clinical associate professor of accounting, was accepted into the Mosaic Faculty Fellows program for the 2019-2020 school year. The program is a one-year commitment to transforming teaching and contributing to the development of learning spaces and related teaching practices at IUPUI.
Bill Kulsrud, professor emeritus and 2012 IUPUI Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, was honored by IUPUI Athletics with a Spirit of Philanthropy Award.
