Dozens of Indiana University Kelley School of Business Indianapolis undergraduate students were honored Friday at the school’s scholarships and awards breakfast.
More than 40 students received scholarships totaling more than $65,000 at the 34th annual event, held this year at Crowne Plaza at Union Station in Indianapolis.
Shelby Caulk, a senior majoring in accounting and finance, was recognized as the 2017 J. Dwight Peterson Key Award winner.
The J. Dwight Peterson Key Award is the most prestigious award conferred by the Kelley School of Business Indianapolis. It is presented to the overall outstanding senior on the basis of superior scholarship, extracurricular activities and character.

Kelley Business of Medicine Physician MBA student Mahdi Ajjan and marketing and international studies major Cassandra Vera each received the William M. Plater Civic Engagement Medallion. They are two of 50 recipients from 16 different IUPUI schools. The award honors graduating students who’ve shown an exemplary commitment to the community.
Multiple students in both the Evening MBA Program and the Graduate Accounting Programs were also recognized for excellence this year.
Karen Preusch, MBA’17, received the David E. Westerhaus Leadership Award.
The Evening MBA Leadership Award was presented to Matthew Spartz, Andrew Myers and Nate Vonderheide. The Evening MBA Academic Excellence Award was presented to Christine Roetzel.
The Graduate Accounting Academic Excellence Awards were presented to Abram Jenkins, Mark Volpatti and Alexander Erwin. The Graduate Accounting Leadership Award was presented to Iris (Huixian) Wang.
