In the days leading up to the IUPUI Top 100 Outstanding Students Recognition Dinner, we will be featuring our Kelley students who have been named a Top 100 for 2016.
What has been your favorite experience so far at Kelley?
My favorite experience at Kelley has been the Kelley Honors program, including Honors I-Core. This program has opened up so many doors by helping me to make lifelong friends, develop relationships with professors, and engage challenging academic opportunities.
What has been your favorite class and why?
My favorite class was J411. It was the perfect chance to “cap off” my Kelley experience by using my cumulative business knowledge in running a business in a competitive simulation. Plus, I loved spending hours every week in meetings with my best friends, all of whom I met at Kelley.
If you had to pick one professor that has impacted you the most while at Kelley, who would it be?
Professor Greg Martin, who taught my A312 class in fall 2014, served as an example of the person and professional I want to become. Professor Martin’s love for Christ, something we share, was manifested in his teaching and in his relationships with innumerable students, including me. Moreover, his passion for teaching and classroom presence spawned in me the desire to eventually return to academia as an accounting professor.
Where do you see yourself after you graduate?
I am starting full-time employment in the tax group at Ernst & Young’s Indianapolis office this fall!
Favorite activity/extracurricular activity that you have been involved in while at Kelley?
I’ve served several semesters as Executive Vice President for Kelley Indianapolis Student Government. It’s been a privilege to work with many of Kelley’s premier student leaders and help influence change in Kelley’s student organizations. I’m excited for all the ways that this group will continue to mold the Kelley student experience.
What is your Kelley moment?
My Kelley moment, the moment when everything “clicked” for me, was during the Business of Sport program last spring. As part of this program, my class took field trips to local sporting organizations, like Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. While at the latter, the track’s director of operations gave a spontaneous trivia contest, which I won! As a prize, I got to ride for two laps around the IMS in the official pace car, at 140 miles per hour. When I stepped out of the car, I experienced an epiphany – in that moment, I reflected on all of the phenomenal experiences that Kelley has put in my path.
