The second-annual Celadon 24-hour case study competition will take place on October 17 and 18, with teams from four local colleges and universities competing for a first-place cash prize of $1,000.
Teams will be given a reality-based case on Friday morning at 9 a.m. and have 24 hours to conduct research, compile data, outline findings, and present their recommendation on Saturday morning. Teams will be judged on their level of professionalism, visual presentation, overall recommendation content, as well as their responses to questions from Celadon’s executive team during defense of their proposals.
“While the case is a general business case, it will require some financial analysis,” said Mark Ippolito, Kelley senior lecturer in operations management. “So, teams should have at least one member who has completed F371/374. It would probably be helpful if the others were at least enrolled in I-Core, if not yet completed.”
Last year, three teams from Kelley Indianapolis took part in the competition. The team of John Gause, Angelina Ramos, Rishi Chandra, and Sara Suarez placed second behind the winning team from Butler.
“This was a completely new industry for me,” said Chandra, who graduated in May and now works as a financial analyst at Cummins. “I didn’t know much about it, but the competition surely helped me broaden my horizons. It was great to get feedback from the judges regarding the things we could have done better and things we should focus on while we present.”
Interested Kelley students can self-select their teams and register online by Friday, October 10. Current or past interns of Celadon are not permitted to participate. Click here to watch Celadon’s highlights video from last year’s competition.
