Many current students and alumni have asked the school to increase the opportunities for student-alumni networking. Earlier this month, a large group of current students attended the 38th annual Kelley Economic Outlook Panel breakfast at the Columbia Club. The school was very pleased to see this group take the time to get involved and learn more about the Indiana business climate. These students attended for free with the support of the Kelley Alumni Association. The event attracted a lot of media attention and approximately 300 guests and many Kelley alumni. It was an ideal venue for students to interact with alumni, and it was a great experience for those who attended.
On Oct. 26, students were invited to participate in the Kelley Alumni Association Industry Connections event at the IUPUI Campus Center. Dozens of employers visited campus to meet and mingle with Kelley talent. This event provided an excellent opportunity for students to learn more about specific companies or industries. Several current Evening MBA students attended and had networked with Kelley alumni representing local companies such as Exact Target; JP Morgan; Katz, Sapper & Miller and others. The turnout showcased the strong connections our program has with the local business community.
Students should make it a priority to participate in the great events hosted by the Evening MBA Student Association (EMBAA). This fall, the EMBAA hosted two networking events at Flat 12 Bierworks, and both events were well attended by students from all cohorts. A number of Evening MBA alumni also attended. The group is hard at work planning some great programming for the spring semester, so please plan to participate.
EMBAA President John Alcorn is now a member of the Kelley School of Business Alumni Advisory Board. He attends their quarterly meetings to represent the Evening MBA program and to increase the visibility of the program to our vast alumni audience. The school has more than 95,000 alumni, and students should work hard to leverage this benefit to your advantage. Students should create a profile in Kelley InCircle, the school’s own social network, and begin exploring how this huge pool of Kelley supporters can advance your career. Maximize your Kelley connections!
